Bendback Minnows, weedless flies

The angle of the hook point on these Bendback Minnows helps avoid underwater obstacles thus making them ideal for fishing in amongst weed, rocks, and shallow water.

Glass Minnow

These are an excellent choice for when the Bass or other predators are smashing tiny baitfish, the materials used are very translucent giving a very realistic representation of immature fry.

Tied on a size 4 Daiichi hook, these are around 2.5 inches long.

Brook's Blonde Fly

I have an eye for the classics, and along with the Ray's fly I also like the Brook's Blonde pattern. Here's my take on this classic all rounder which still catches plenty of fish.

High tie Flash blend baitfish

Continuing with the Flash blend theme here's another baitfish this time tied 'high tie' style.

Flash blend Roach imitation

Been tying a lot with natural materials lately so I thought it was time to change to synthetics. I tied this one up as a Roach pattern for Pike fishing, but it would work equally well for salt water species as it resembles the peanut bunker type saltwater patterns.

Garfish Flies

We get a lot of Garfish here in the summer so I designed a fly to specifically target these fish. Garfish are notoriously difficult to hook and I have only ever caught one on the fly accidentally but I'm sure we often get hits from them without ever hooking up. I'm hoping the small size 10 stinger treble hook will help in connecting with more Gars along with the slinky fibre tail that will hopefully snag in their teeth thus aiding chances of a hook up. Orange of course is a good trigger colour too.

Bucktail Baitfish

I love this style of tying, simple, elegant, and effective at catching fish. Bucktail, Flashabou, Bugbond, and Funky braid and eyes.

Fly collection

A friend asked me to tie a selection of flies of my recommendation to get him started in Saltwater fly fishing.

Glass Minnows

These little flies are great fry patterns for when the predators are preoccupied on smaller baitfish. These are on a size 6 Sakuma stainless saltwater hook. The heads and body are Bug Bonded.

Ray's fly

Ray's Fly, a classic saltwater fly and one of the first fly's I ever caught Bass on !

Bucktail Sandeels

These Bucktail Sandeels are weighted so they sink positively and fish in the zone where the fish would expect to find them. Tied on a size 2 Daiichi stainless hook they are approx. 3.5 inches long, just the right size for a marauding predator !
